Masked men threatened jewellery shop staff with axes before smashing display cabinets and snatching handfuls of stock this afternoon.
The men targeted G Naran Jewellers, in Melton Road, Belgrave Leicester at 3.30pm.
Police said three men threatened staff with axes which they then used to break into the glass cabinets.
They escaped in a black Nissan Qashqai which was waiting nearby.
