Frontline police officers say new roadside test kits which tell them instantaneously whether a driver is under the influence of drugs are helping them make the roads safer.
A number of officers in Leicestershire began carrying the handheld devices in late-summer as the force stepped up its efforts to track down drug-impaired drivers.
They tell the officers immediately whether a driver has taken cannabis or cocaine recently by analysing a saliva sample.
