A sadistic attacker who brutally tried to murder a man with a hammer and a knife will serve at least 15 years behind bars.
Kevin Mace (38) was high on drink and drugs when he tortured former Job Centre manager, Stephen Wale, who suffered life-changing head injuries and a slashed throat.
Sentencing Mace to life imprisonment at Leicester Crown Court, Judge Nicholas Dean QC said: "In November last year you carried out a sustained and sadistic attack on Mr Wale."
