A man killed on the M1 on Friday was related to a woman suspected of being murdered in a village two miles away from the motorway, Derbyshire Police have confirmed.
The 44-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by a lorry on the southbound carriageway at Trowell services, near Nottingham.
It led to the motorway being closed between junctions 26 and 25 from 11.30am to 8pm – resulting in traffic backing up into Leicestershire.
