Police have warned cyclists to take basic precautions to protect their bikes as thefts are predicted to rise for the fifth year in a row.
City centre police say bike thefts are bucking the trend of falling crime rates, having risen by 27 cent in the past five years.

Police have named a driver who was killed in a crash on New Year's Eve.
Richard Cropper, 28, died in the collision in Glenfrith Way, near Gilroes Cemetery, last Thursday.
The collision happened at 9.42pm and involved only Mr Cropper's black Ford Focus ST.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police caught fewer drink drivers during this year's annual Christmas campaign – but road safety campaigners have warned that an unusually high number of offenders were young people.
