Council tax payers are to be asked how much they are prepared to contribute to Leicestershire Police's running costs.
Police and crime commissioner Sir Clive Loader has urged residents to take part in a survey, the results of which he will use as a guide when he sets the council tax contribution to his force's budget.
Currently, households provide £50 million of the force's £170 million budget through the local tax.
