A man who intervened to stop a fight ended up with a double-fractured jaw after being punched, a court heard.
The victim, Ryan Iley, had to have a tooth removed, and three metal plates with 14 screws surgically fitted to repair the damage.
Leicester Crown Court was told the assailant, Callum Williams, 20, initially thought Mr Iley was going to assault him – but when he realised he had made a mistake he apologised at the scene.
