Residents have reported a spate of car tanks being drilled and drained of petrol.
At least four cars in the Aylestone area of the city have been targeted in the past few days. Most were in, or near, Aylestone Drive.
A similar series of crimes was reported by residents in Spinney Hills last month.
In each case, the thefts happened overnight and the victims found the tell-tale hole in their tanks.
