A man punched a woman unconscious in a busy city centre street in broad daylight today.
The woman was assaulted in Charles Street, near the junction with Rutland Street, in Leicester, shortly before 2pm.
A witness who came to the victim's aid has told how she screamed at the man and pulled him away from the unconscious woman.
She then chased the attacker when he fled the scene.
