Police have urged residents to take basic home security measures to prevent an anticipated rise in burglaries over the coming weeks.The force said it expected the number of break-ins to rise as a result of the darker evenings.It launched a campaign today to raise awareness and is encouraging people to keep windows and doors locked and to leave lights on when they are out, perhaps by using timers.It also announced that it has put together a team of officers which will focus solely on burglaries...
