Two robbers smashed their way out of a locked bank carrying metal boxes containing a 'substantial amount' of cash.
The raid on the HSBC bank, in Forge Corner, Blaby, happened as the branch was closing shortly after 5pm today (Wednesday).
Police say the men demanded staff hand over cash before escaping with the money.
