Thieves have stripped more than 100 metres of copper sheeting from the roof of an 800-year-old church.The incident happened at the Grade II-listed St Peter's Church, in Main Street, Kirby Bellars, near Melton.Police said the theft had caused "extensive damaged" to the building, which it is estimated will cost thousands of pounds to repair.People who might be able to help find those responsible for the theft are being urged to come forward.
