Leicestershire Police has praised 20 shops whose staff refused to sell fireworks to a 15-year-old boy who was taking part in a 'test purchase' operation.
The boy was escorted to the shops in the Hinckley and Blaby areas by plain clothes officers and Leicestershire County Council's trading standards officials.
He visited 20 shops in areas such as Countesthorpe, Blaby, the Fosse Park shopping centre, Hinckley, Barwell and Earl Shilton and attempted to buy fireworks.
